Apparently Car washes are the #1 means of raising funds on the island. No one does Pancake breakfasts or Spaghetti dinners because well neither are that popular here. This group of students are trying to raise support for their mission trip to Yap. They will be working with the church in Yap for 3 weeks doing Youth and Children's ministry. They raised about $581 which will translate to about $50 a student.
Unfortunately the mission trip got off to a late start and even through the trip only cost $500 a student.... that is a lot of money for most Micronesian students especially since they have so little time to raise the funds. So I am putting this out there saying if any of you or your church would be interested in supporting a student financially (I am sure any size gift would be appreciated), contact me. I can either hook you up with a student or you can donate to the team fund.
I am excited that I will be able to be there for the last week of the trip even though I am not officially participating.
