Squeaking? Is it a mouse in the house?

No!!! It's just my toilet. Actually it makes more a squealing noise. Really makes it hard to sleep. It is not the water running. I really don't know what is causing the squealing. I just wish it would stop. :o( Warning: This video is graphic. It shows pictures of an actual toilet making horrifying noises. More Fundraisers

On Saturday Night we had our first ever fund raiser concert for the Palau and Thailand Mission Teams. Both mission teams performed, but we had other groups of students who also performed and some other groups from outside the school. Not everything went perfectly. We had a number of technical problems. One of those problems which even cancelled one of the songs since we could not get the CD to play. However over all, I think it was a big sucess with a total of $1070 raised for the trips. The first picture is "Molly's Group".
Both the Palauan and the Thailand team did a little presentation about their trips and performed one song. This is the Thai team singing.
Pancho and Ahyen Madrid are part of the worship team at my church, the were kind enough to come and perform at our concert. Both are extremely talented.
Melody Plaxton, our academic dean and one of our professors, also performed two numbers. The students especially loved it. They don't get to see that side of Melody often.

Nice Shoes "TM"

Ameilia loves "Auntie M"... although she refers to me as "TM" but what she REALLY loves are my shoes. Every time she visits she likes to try on my shoes. And on Christmas when I showed up at her house with fancy black pumps, she, who is only 2, said, "Nice Shoes TM".

Prayer Requests

The last couple of weeks have been very busy. I am really looking forward to the end of the semester or at least the end of classes. I have one more week to teach after tomorrow, then it is the final week of presentations. The last 2 weeks of the semester are extremely busy by nature with end of the year parties, graduation, wrap up stuff, etc. Please pray for strength to make it to the end.



This weekend is a concert fundraiser for the mission trips to Thailand and Palau. For the most part it looks like it is coming together ok but there is still so many unknowns and things we can not control. Please pray that the concert will go well, the people will be blessed and funds will be raised for the trips.



Pray for all the students and that they will stay focused on their studies. That they will work hard and do their best until the end.

Pray for the students on both mission teams (Thailand and Palau) that they would be able to raise their funds and to prepare for the work they will do over the summer. Pray that they would be able to not be homesick and would be filled with God's power and joy.

Pray for wisdom and direction for summer plans.

Pray that God would provide funds to continue to stay in Micronesia. I feel confident that this is where I am meant to be.

Citizen Marisol

Marisol, Ned's wife, is a citizen of Ecuador. She has been in the process for the past 3 years of trying to get her American Citizenship. A couple of weeks ago, she was finally able to take the test.... which she passed with flying colors... and a little bird told me that some time next week she will be sworn in. Congratulations Marisol!!!

Visitors in the House

The last couple weeks have been a intense campus clean up. It is hard to keep up with the grass cutting and the week pulling in the tropics. However our main objective was to have the campus looking especially nice for a visit from one of the people from TRACCS, our accredidation agency. They weren't here to inspect on this visit but in the next year we have to re-do our accrediation process.
Everybody was a real trooper and worked really hard on cleaning the campus. Johanna even took her turn with a bush cutter.
Keiney was glad to let her have a try but Jaynee must have been upset since she is wielding that machete pretty close to him. ( Actually the students are just playing. )

Clean'um again!

Saturday April 19th was our 2nd car wash to raise funds for the Mission trips to Palau and Thailand this summer. The students all worked hard.
Even some who weren't going on the trip like Russell, TJay, and Ertin (below) donated their services to the team.

Many Ethusiastic Ones stood on the road trying to get the cars to turn in. We ended up with about $540 and a chair. I guess one guy did not have enough money on him so he donated a folding chair from his car. The sign said the price was by "Donations" but did not specify cash donations. Fortunately most people gave cash. I don't know what we would have done if everyone would have given chairs. Hmmmm..... maybe we would then have to have a chair sale????

Hanging Out With Joyce

Lately on my day off I have gotten the opportunity to hang out with my friend Joyce. I love her spirit of adventure and fun. Here she is looking for hermit crabs to share with her preschool class. Unfortunately her husband Dave threw it out of the house when he saw it crawling across the floor in the middle of the night. He did not know that Joyce had it in the house on purpose.
This is the Japenese/American Peace Memorial Park.
Down this stairway, in the jungle there are a number of caves. Many Japanese soldiers ended up dieing in this very place.

My "Cousin" Tammy

Recently my cousin Tammy sent this picture to me. If you have not guessed (I am on the left). Tammy was only 2 months older than me and my Aunt Margaret or my sister would sometimes make us or buy us matching outfits. Tammy actually in some circles would be considered my "Cousin once removed" since she is actually my first cousin's daughter. Being the youngest first cousin, I am actually closer in age to some of my cousin's children. Here is Micronesia.... relationship lines are a little more flexible. They don't have anything such as "Cousin once removed". If you are some how related.... especially if it is distant - you are most likely cousins. If you are at least a generation older and you are what close in relation (even a cousin) - you would more likely to be considered an "Aunty" or an "Uncle". In some ways it seems much easier than keeping track of 1st & 2nd cousins. Yet it seems some how more difficult to keep track or who is related how because some times they call Aunties cousins and vice versa and so many of the islanders at some point have relatives in common....which happens when your entire population is only in the couple hundred thousand at the most.

Yellow!!!

Sometimes we are driving around the Island we play the game "Yellow". It is similar to the old game "Punch Buggy" but we use Yellow Cars and Trucks since there are almost no volkswagen bugs. There are some limitations. They can not be company cars or trucks. They must be private vehicles. Some get confused and just call out everything yellow that they see.

Yellow is also one of my greetings for Jerimiah. He was on the Shadrach team during PIBC days. When picking the team color, we picked chocolate brown..... we then moved on with our meeting and were talking about something completely different when Jeremiah, who was sitting beside me, yells out "Yellow". I think he must like yellow......here he is with a yellow balloon.

Working at the Car Wash

The Palau and the Thailand Mission Teams pulled together to raise funds at a car wash this last Saturday. Ned, Ethel, and I all worked with them for this car wash.
Here are Johanna and Jayvina vacuuminig out my car which came to the car wash thanks to Hiob. (I drove the van)..... They are now saints in my book - they had to work extremely hard on my car and they didn't complain.

They all worked really hard. They were able to raise close to $700. Not nearly enough to send out 18 people but it is a good start.

We have another car wash planned in a couple of weeks and a concert at the end of the month.

Transworld Radio

Last Monday, Our Cross Cultural Communication Class took a field trip to the Trans World Radio Station in the southern part of the island. I got to be the bus driver so I got to go too. Joel and Elilai pose near the control room. There is no DJ here. Most of the radio programs are downloaded in files over the internet from Singapore. They broadcast in 27 different languages from Guam mostly in Asia. It is reported that they have 9 million regular listeners in China alone.

Traveling Team

After a semester of hiatus, the traveling team was once again revived. This time it is led by Delight and Evelyn Suda. They perform at different churches around Guam during Sunday services. They share the good news about Jesus and they also help do publicity for the school. This past Sunday, the students were asked to share at one of the Chapel services at Andersen Airforce Base. Since Delight is off island, they needed someone to drive the van.... so I got to go along with them.
They sang several songs and performed an action song.
Several students, including Smileen, gave a testimony of how God worked in her life.
They also performed a skit based on Isaiah 53:4-6 (see below).
Here Mondale and Jeremiah chill out as they wait for the trip back to school. They did a great job. I was proud of them.

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. Summer Mission Teams

This summer we will be sending out two mission teams. This group of people will be going to the island of Palau. During the end of June there is a big "Gospel Day" celebration. The team will do various ministries including youth and children ministries and village evangelism as they help the church of Palau prepare and celebrate "Gospel Day".

The other team.... which I don't have a picture of is going back to Thailand. Right now many of the details are still be worked out. There are approximately nine member of the team. They will mostly be working on college campuses with Campus Crusade for Christ but they are looking for possible ESL opportunities.

Please pray for both teams as they are preparing for the ministries they will perform, building team unity, and raising financial support.

Research & Study Skills Attendance 3/28

Here are the students from my Research and Study Skills class. Normally I try to take pictures at the beginning of the semester of all my class.... but due to a number of technical problems at the beginning of the semester and then it slipped my mind..... so here they are. A good looking bunch..... Ken one of the students took the picture so that I could be in it.... but unfortunately 2 were absent that day. They just finished their midterm last week.
