Picture 3 - Flat Stanely & the Pope. This statue was resurrected in commemoration of the Pope's visit in 1981 - the first and only visit by a Pope to Guam. It rotates once in a twleve hour period. 85% of the Island's population is Catholic.
Picture 4 - Flat Stanley in a Spanish Canon left over from the Spanish occupation of Guam
Picture 5 - The Chocolate House. This is part of a Spanish Governer's Palace. Apparently Hot Chocolate was served here in the afternoons.

this has to be my favorite so far:
imaginative combination of Stan w/ Guam, information on the rich Catholic heritage of Guam (leave it to JPII visit there.) questions: why would one eat hot chocolate during a tropical climate afternoon? why is Stan going back? in his next appearance, can you arrange for some type of Flat Stan positioner other than a human hand? Flat Stan in the cannon was brilliant!
Thank you for taking care of Flat Stanley and showing him the sites in Guam. I hope you had fun with him. It looks like you did from the pictures. Did any of the students at the oollege have to do a Flat Stanley project when they were younger? I wish I could have fit in the envelope too to visit you. Thank you again. Bethany
Flat Stanley had to be back in PA for school on the day after Easter. I would welcome Flat Stanley back anytime he wanted to come visit. He is ultimate house guest. Unfortunately on the afternoon I took these photos of Stan and some Guam tourist sites I was more concerned about the potential typhoon which was supposed to be headed our way and getting Stan in the mail before then so he would be back in time for class. Otherwise I would have been more creative in positioning him.
