Marbo Caves
Since basketball season was over I decided to run a small hike swim at a cave that is close by campus. I had seven students with me. If I would have not left at 9am on a Saturday we would have had more. Students like to sleep in on Saturdays.... (Me too!. The water is very clear but the rocks on the bottom are blue. There are many higher rocks to jump off of in the cave making it a really fun time.
Curious about the location of Marbo cave... Is this cave near the ocean? I once lived on Guam (at Marbo Barracks USAF) in 1969 and haven't be back. Does the cave have a half circle opening about 4ft high with natural pier inside. Once inside the water is on the left and circles to the left and ends. Approx 2.5ft deep approx 8ft wide.
Wayne, Maybe it has changed. But if you are going north toward Andersen on the "back road"... you would take a right on the road across from Macheche Rd. This road was built for a housing development which never got built.... if you follow it around to the left you will end at a trash pile where the road is no longer accessable by car. Walk about 100 yards and it is on your left. The Dock is Man made was used by the military in world war II as a source of water. The depth of the cave is any where from about 5 to 20 ft deep depending where you are.
Was stationed at Andersen in 1963, we were moved out to Marbo Barracks while the repaired our dormitory on base (1958th Comm Squadron) Someone took us to the cave where we would dive from chamber to chamb er withn our GI flashlites. Was told the caves were a source of fresh water for Japanese navy..pilons supporting pipes could be seen going into ocean
